Review of Jerry Ash's "Hellraiser"

The story of Mary Harris Jones as she fights for the rights of the working class. An Irish-American schoolteacher, she was called "the most dangerous woman in America" for her success in organising mine workers and their families against the mine owners. The author captures some scenes brilliantly with writing that transports you to a different era. You can tell that a huge amount of research went in to write this novel. This is a very informative book about one of the greatest women in history. The author tells how Mother Jones can give hope to anyone who feels powerless because her story shows how a person who has lost everything can make such a big difference in the lives of others - and she did it most of it before women had the vote. Anybody interested in American history or just looking for a good read would enjoy this book. A well written novel that will maintain your interest throughout.
