Author Raanan Geberer is on top of his game with this nostalgic look at 20th-century New York. Just like the qualities of a rare Diamond "Moish and the Mob and Other Short Fiction" has many elements that make it unique and well polished. Set in 1930's & 40's New York in the classic gangster era. The first story tells of two Jewish boys, Moish and Shmooey, who get a chance to prove themselves in the crime world. This is the main story in a number of well-constructed stories. Raanan is truly talented in his ability to weave together such interesting tales with an array of interesting characters. Being a collection of short stories, this is an enjoyable & easy read. It's good for a re-read, too! I fully invested my time into the pages of this book and can’t wait to see what Raanan will come up with next.
