Mrs. Rutherford, a school teacher, invites her students to take part in a poetry-reading contest. Calliope Spencer and her friends go to the local library to create some ideas. They all want to beat the smartest girl in school, Miranda. This short book includes a lovely collection of poems for children, but I think the stories could have been longer. Author C.S. Reid's "Plucking Poetry from the Air" is very imaginative for little ones and grown ups alike:) I would recommend this book as a way of introducing young children to poetry.
