"Killers, Traitors, & Runaways"

A company of seven unite. Heroes not of virtue, but of circumstance. Authur Lucas Aubrey Paynter tells a wondrous tale of Killers, Traitors, & Runaways. I'm surprised to see very few reviews. I really like this writer as I think his idea for the heroes is very unique and his style is great. The plot moves along pretty quickly and while at times this does feel a bit clunky, it doesn't take long for you to immerse yourself in the world. Despite the supernatural aspect of the story, the author makes it natural to readers thanks to the authenticity of all the characters. The kind of characters you would love to hang out with. Loved it.

"The Edgewater Legacy"

Author Wanda Pyle does an excellent job of painting the greed and cynicism of the 1980's music scene. Hidden agendas were brought to light in this page turning, quick paced novel. The flow of the book was natural and not forced, and very well written. For me, the most interesting figure is Chris. He's shown as a man of determination and vision, the capacity for deep friendship, with a need for love. If you enjoyed  the first two books in this series, you will certainly enjoy this - even more so.

"Serch Bythol"

David Pierson, a young musician, encounters a ghostly figure when his family moves to England. But instead of running from ghosts, he runs into love. I was completely immersed in this fantasy world as the author did a wonderful job creating an exciting YA read with all the works – action, romance, suspense heroes and villains! This book is a page turner that will leave you in the end wanting more.

'Hidden in the Dark'

An intense and suspenseful story about family secrets, "Hidden in the Dark" by Rashell Lashbrook had me hooked from the first chapter. I couldn't put it down if I tried! The book was well written, full of excitement, suspense, hatred and love. She captures every feeling imaginable in this book. One of the standouts for me is the detail the Rashell has put into the characters. She is on her way to becoming a notable author. Looking forward to reading her upcoming publications.

'Truth From the Bathroom'

Full of wisdom, goodness, and compassion for those who know the agony and shame of domestic violence.  I think people don't understand being in a abusive relationship that's more verbal. This treasure of a book invites the reader into understanding of the view of men that if embraced would radically alter how victims address this heartache. This is a must-read book. If you or some one you know are or may be in an abusive relationship or even just getting out of one this book is for you. This book has left an indelible mark on myself and my partner. Never again will I assume men don't suffer domestic abuse.

'Thieves of Islar'

James Shade writes in a smooth, easy to read style that snares you in, and carries you along to the very end. I have to say that this book was a pleasant surprise! Set in the fantasy city of Islar is a fresh story-line, believable characters, and a couple of nice twists in the mix. One thing that impressed me was the higher level of language that was used in this book. The authors characters are compelling, the settings have both brutality and honesty and the plot has unexpected turns. This promises to be an interesting series - and I need answers, but I'll have to wait for the release of book two to get them. I can't wait!

'Nemesis'

Roger A. Price manged to keep me reading from beginning to end without taking much of a break! I read this book in two sittings, even staying up most of last night to finish it! Detective Vinnie Palmer and TV reporter Christine Jones are on the trail of an escaped psychopath as he has leads them from one murder scene to another. As the pieces fit together and the frustrating chase to uncover the killer makes the conclusion very dramatic. The story line is incredibly believable, well developed, and riveting. One of the few in recent years where I could see the story developing around me like I was watching a movie.

'Ghost Sickness'

Amber Foxx continues to delight with her no murder, just mystery novels. Ghost Sickness is the fifth novel in the Mae Martin mystery series. Mae and Jamie are wonderful characters. I like how the author can connect characters to each other, and ropes you in as if you are part of the story. The author did her research on Indian reservations and was very accurate in her descriptions. This book was suspenseful, humorous, and steady reading. I have also read and enjoyed the other books in the series as the author can offer readers a form of escapism that typical detective stories can't.

'Borrowed Wings'

The sequel to the award winning 'Skylark', Borrowed Wings continues where Skylark left off. Billie must find her way forward and Jack must find his way back. But this time the secondary characters from the first book get into the spotlight much more, and that is a good thing. The great thing is this is a book that pretty much everyone can (and will) enjoy. It is funny, tender, thoughtful and thought-provoking - as the layered meanings run deep in this book. This isn't Fargo. It is something more tender and beautiful. It is a book you will think about long after you close the cover.

'Granite Grit'

Granite Grit by Lee Cooper is a superb story, that is both fast and engaging. The plot was powerful and utterly gripping; filled with highs and lows, laughter and tears. The story of a boxer named Joe who falls into the seedie world of underground bare knuckle fighting. Not being familiar with this topic, reading this book allowed me an amazing insight to the world of boxing. Along the way we are introduced to a lot of characters but not once did I get confused whilst reading as they all connect well with one another. So thank you Lee for this fabulous book which gave me many hours of reading pleasure.

'Mosquitoes'

A short and believable fictional novel, Mosquitoes by John R. McKay is told so well you have no idea how it's going to turn out. As a person who has done therapy myself I really related to the experiences verging on a nervous breakdown. But this is a story that is also funny, funny in a great way that refuses to take itself seriously and just entertains you. I couldn't put it down and was torn between being desperate to find out what happened next and not wanting the intriguing plot to end. Highly recommend.

'The Missing Husband'

The Missing Husband by Amanda Brooke is a spectacularly sneaky story about a husbands mysterious disappearance? In the first few chapters, I was thinking, "This is one of those rare novels that's totally engrossing, cleverly plotted and I'm eager to find out what happens next."  In a nutshell, this is a psychological thriller that keeps you guessing. But it's not only a thriller, the book is also about the unconventional truths in love and marriage.

'Alive at Sunset'

“There was no place in her life for pretty things –if there were, it was only for them to get destroyed.” That's a quote from 'Alive at Sunset' from author Kayla Krantz. Part two in the Rituals of the Night series, this is a frightening tale indeed. The author put me, the reader, into a world of revenge, love and murder. While reading in a darkened room I had to put the book away, as I did not want the characters following me off to dreamland! There are bad things happening here that will send chills down your spine. Really, who doesn't love a great scary story?

'Samantha Posey'

So what first attracted Samantha to the millionaire Jacob? Love of course! She's a party planner but this time she didn't get what she planned. What you'll find in this story; An interracial romance between the main characters Samantha and Jacob, an interesting story-line, romance scenes, suspense, and betrayal. What you wont find in this story; A solid structure, likeable characters, an editor or a fast moving plot. The book is't badly written, it's just there is a number of things to like and dislike about this "heavy" read.

'Sketches of Spain'

After reading the first book in the series by DL Osment, I just had to get the second instalment "Sketches of Spain". The erotically-charged romance of Lucy Major and Miguel Velasquez continues. I can't say too much about the story without injecting spoilers but things start happening right from the first chapter, as the story delves into their past, present and future. The characters Lucy and Miguel are so meant to be together. They are so well developed you feel every emotion they are feeling throughout the story. It appears Miguel has never forgotten about Lucy just the same as she hasn't forgotten about him. Lucy is a very mysterious character- not only to herself, but to those she is close to. The story moves rapidly along and while the ending may be projected from early on, the getting there certainly keeps your interest. Very impressed with this author and will look for other offerings from her. Give this a try - I think you will enjoy it.

'For Want of a Shoe'

E L James has a lot to answer for in my opinion. Here we go again with a Dominant/submissive story, this time by author Deana Carroll entitled "For Want of a Shoe". A tale heavily influenced by FSOG. And like FSOG I kept asking myself "Why is she with this guy?" Abi and her boss Lester, embark on a wild affair that turns even wilder from the moment the dog collar is strapped on. Lester is selfish and narcissistic, but clever in certain ways  that makes it so hard for Abi to leave. He is obsessive about controlling every aspect in her life. She wants? amm company?

Read it for the kink.
Read it for the thrill.
Read it if you're bored.
