"The Edgewater Legacy"

Author Wanda Pyle does an excellent job of painting the greed and cynicism of the 1980's music scene. Hidden agendas were brought to light in this page turning, quick paced novel. The flow of the book was natural and not forced, and very well written. For me, the most interesting figure is Chris. He's shown as a man of determination and vision, the capacity for deep friendship, with a need for love. If you enjoyed  the first two books in this series, you will certainly enjoy this - even more so.

'Emerald's Ring'

As someone who has read a lot of fantasy novels, this story kept me guessing and hoping that things would work out in the end. After finishing this book, I immediately went to find the first book in the series. My only complaint is that is was too short but it had everything a person reading this can ask. It has tense parts, moving parts, and hard to put down. Congratulations Jaylee Austin! You told a wonderful story!

'Nemesis'

Roger A. Price manged to keep me reading from beginning to end without taking much of a break! I read this book in two sittings, even staying up most of last night to finish it! Detective Vinnie Palmer and TV reporter Christine Jones are on the trail of an escaped psychopath as he has leads them from one murder scene to another. As the pieces fit together and the frustrating chase to uncover the killer makes the conclusion very dramatic. The story line is incredibly believable, well developed, and riveting. One of the few in recent years where I could see the story developing around me like I was watching a movie.

'Ghost Sickness'

Amber Foxx continues to delight with her no murder, just mystery novels. Ghost Sickness is the fifth novel in the Mae Martin mystery series. Mae and Jamie are wonderful characters. I like how the author can connect characters to each other, and ropes you in as if you are part of the story. The author did her research on Indian reservations and was very accurate in her descriptions. This book was suspenseful, humorous, and steady reading. I have also read and enjoyed the other books in the series as the author can offer readers a form of escapism that typical detective stories can't.

'LandQuaker'

Author Dean Wilson is writing books I’ve always wanted to read - steampunk with actual emotions and true character development. The forth book in the Great Iron War series, Landquaker is by far the best. I've been following this whole series with great enjoyment as they're filled with the perfect mix of adventure, mystery & war! Once again the characters in this book are great. For example, a wonderful new addition to the cast of is Nox - a conjuring cowboy full of surprises. With prose that is silver smooth this story is truly full of "Hope" ;)

'A Dream of Ashes'

A Dream of Ashes by Orlando Sanchez is a tense fantasy-thriller. A mysterious plot surrounding Ava, who works in the Mystic Investigative Division. But when the Division turns on her, she goes on the run. Addictive is one word that I'd use to describe this novel. I wish I could say more but given that there is a lot that can’t be said because of spoilers, I would say its a story rich in detail, full of the sights, sounds, and smells that make you feel as though you're actually there. One of those books that was just a joy to lose myself in. Some may hate cliffhangers but this actually worked for this book. I can’t wait to read book 2, I'm wondering what this author has up his sleeve next.

'Comorbid'

Turn on the lights, lock the windows and set the security alarm, as 'Comorbid' is one of those novels that hooks you in from the start, and keeps upping the game until the last page. A psychological thriller full of rich characters, plot twists and a variety of well written conflicts. Author Lorelei Logsdon is a strikingly powerful storyteller, that gets you asking - Who to trust? Who to believe? & What the hell just happened? So needless to say, I recommend this "uncomfortable" journey :)

'Keeper of the Key'

Another killer release form author Renee Spyrou. 'Keeper of the Key' is #2 in the Seraphympire Series and like in the first book, the main character Makayla takes us on a journey - Not just adventure, but also emotionally. She must find Alexander before a deadly virus wipes out humanity, but Alexander isn't all that he seems. This second book adds enough new characters to deepen the enjoyment while sticking with the central forward moving plot. Thanks to Renee, who sent the book to me as its a perfect book to read by firelight on these cold Autumn evenings. A very enjoyable story and I am so glad that I was able to share my view.

'Finding the Raven'

Finding the Raven by Patty Dickson Pieczka is a gripping thriller that kept me sitting on the edge of my bed guessing what would happen next. I would say this novel is probably classified as an historical-magic-murder-mystery !! :) This fascinating thrill ride was set in 1900's America and I think the dynamics and the evolving relationship between Julia and Rose was one of the most satisfying parts of the book. Definitely recommended if you like mysteries and strong women characters with a lot of heart. 5/5 (My thanks to Patty for sending me a review copy.)

'The Aspect Wars'

Readers will enjoy this, as long as they are fans of fantasy, magic and sorcerery. A short prequel to the book Elara (The Fist of Etan) it's a story that has writing that is somewhat dense. The characters were well written and you did feel a bond with them while reading. The premise of the story was interesting also, and well told. I'm excited to see where the story expands to, and if this book is any indication, I'll greatly enjoy diving deeper into mysteries and lore which were only hinted at here.

'Bloodline'

Bloodline by Gabriella Messina is a fast paced adventure that I thoroughly enjoyed. I have read many werewolf novels, and this one is my favourite, by a landslide. It's hard to be original in this genre, but the author keeps it fresh with believable, well-drawn characters. Wether its dealing with a large cast of main characters, or those with shorter roles, I found it easy to see the individual identity of each one.  I hope to read more from Gabriella and can recommend this for a good read.

'The Missing Husband'

The Missing Husband by Amanda Brooke is a spectacularly sneaky story about a husbands mysterious disappearance? In the first few chapters, I was thinking, "This is one of those rare novels that's totally engrossing, cleverly plotted and I'm eager to find out what happens next."  In a nutshell, this is a psychological thriller that keeps you guessing. But it's not only a thriller, the book is also about the unconventional truths in love and marriage.

'Alive at Sunset'

“There was no place in her life for pretty things –if there were, it was only for them to get destroyed.” That's a quote from 'Alive at Sunset' from author Kayla Krantz. Part two in the Rituals of the Night series, this is a frightening tale indeed. The author put me, the reader, into a world of revenge, love and murder. While reading in a darkened room I had to put the book away, as I did not want the characters following me off to dreamland! There are bad things happening here that will send chills down your spine. Really, who doesn't love a great scary story?

'London Large: Blood on the Streets'

Crime readers are always searching for books that have fast action, intriguing characters, and a plot that pulls you in. In "London Large: Blood on the Streets" authors Roy and Garry Robson accomplish all of this and more. The story of an old school London copper that finds himself under siege in a gang war. Can he see through a high-level conspiracy and rescue his partner from kidnappers? And will he step outside the law to do so? Populated with complex characters and plenty of action this novel is the first in a 3 part series that follows Inspector Harry 'H' Hawkins. Not quite Dirty Harry, but the next best thing. Even seasoned readers will be surprised by some of the twists as they are guided through the dark streets of London.

'The Way Knight'

The Way Knight by Alexander Wallis is a dark fantasy tale about a girl named Daimonia and her journey from child to goddess. When corrupt politicians execute her brother, she travels to her mother. To survive the journey, she hires a warrior sworn to protect anyone who pays him. The author goes to great lengths to show the inner turmoil that faces Daimonia. And the world was so intriguing, as the author describes the scenery in a beautiful creative way. Also, the little Illustrations gave the book a more life-like reading experience. All-in-all a nice little read.

'Aurelia'

Wow, what a series. If you haven't started this series yet, you are really missing out. Here, author Alison Morton presents a thrilling prequel in the alternative history of the Roma Nova series, the fourth book to be precise, and keeps up all the great momentum and thrill from the first three books. If you've read any of the first three books then you know what to expect, and what you get is exactly what you'd hoped for.

This intriguing story continues....

'Samantha Posey'

So what first attracted Samantha to the millionaire Jacob? Love of course! She's a party planner but this time she didn't get what she planned. What you'll find in this story; An interracial romance between the main characters Samantha and Jacob, an interesting story-line, romance scenes, suspense, and betrayal. What you wont find in this story; A solid structure, likeable characters, an editor or a fast moving plot. The book is't badly written, it's just there is a number of things to like and dislike about this "heavy" read.

'Soul Loss'

After reading the first three instalments of the Mae Martin Mystery Series, I just had to get the forth "Soul Loss". Set in New Mexico, this charming tale goes looking for answers in the spirit world. Always a wonderful story from author Amber Foxx. She gave the reader a feeling of being there and with people that became familiar quickly. Great character development and descriptions - you could easily identify with the people. Not very complex but it was a perfect length and a perfect escape.

'Dex Territory'

Recommend to fans of Gotham and those who like their novels with lots of action and substance. 'Dex Territory' by Mark Aberdeen gives you a kick in the face, but in a joyful way that you'll like. After a long week at work, I thoroughly enjoyed the suspense and settings of this hard-boiled detective story. The author captures the unique detail of each character, making them real as if the reader already knows them personally. He masterfully lets the reader enjoy the vibrant warmth and charm of the main character Rick O'Shea as he intertwines the strengths and flaws in all of the character as the plot unfolds. Excellent read!

'The Enigma of Her Longevity'

The author sucked!! Sucking me into a well written novel by creating an uniquely entertaining story :D From the very start 'The Enigma of Her Longevity' by M Vyas caught my attention, from page one and maybe even paragraph one, I was hooked. This thriller is set in a futuristic world, a world of layers, shaped by the needs of a few. You want to know what is going to happen to the characters you are currently reading about so you can't wait to turn the page and read the next chapter, as you wonder how everything fits into this unusual plot. Thanks to the author, I am one step closer to the secret of longevity :)
